ABS sheets

ABS resin is widely used in injection molding, extrusion and vacuum forming for its well-balanced mechanical properties, chemical resistance and processing properties. Especially, ABS resin has high gloss and can be vacuum-formed easily in nature that leads to successful application in sheet and vacuum-forming products.

Refrigerator liner and door panel are the typical products of vacuum forming. In case of refrigerator liner, its large, complicated and deep design needs ABS resin more developed in vacuum-forming property as well as high performance vacuum forming machine and forming technology.

ABS, being produced by high quality extrusion machines, has the following features:

  1. Non-toxic
  2. Easy vacuum forming
  3. Uniform extrusion
  4. Good chemical resistance
  5. Well-balanced mechanical properties
  6. Stable color to sunlight
  7. Recycle is possible

Transparent ABS sheets are a new product from SilvanMehr Tabriz with the same physical and mechanical properties of ABS sheets, while they are also transparent and can find more different applications:

AIDA-ABS sheets, in the plain form, are being produced in the following dimensions:

Thickness: 1.3 mm

Max. Width: 120 mm

It is possible to produce the sheets according to the client request, subject to our production conditions. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact our sales department at:

COLORS:

ABS sheets are being offered in the following colors:

  • Snow white
  • Bluish white
  • Grey
  • Black
  • Blue
  • Red
  • Yellow

It is also possible to produce any desired color for the client, subject to fulfill our minimum order level

Characterization of good quality ABS sheet for refrigerator liner:

Appearance: free from bubbles, voids, cracks, impurities and other defects, homogenous color distribution, uniform surface gloss level

Homogenous shrinkage after thermal treatment between -3% to -5% in machine direction and less than + 2% in transverse direction

Thermo-formability: uniformity of stretching at a high temperature possesses with a proper modulus. Required formed product in good appearance and quality in thickness.

Chemical resistance:

refrigerator grades must have high resistance to such chemicals as raw material of urethane, oil and food and to chemicals including raw materials of polyurethane foam, such as TDI, MDI, polyol, HCFC-141b

Thermo-formability:

Thermo-formability means material distribution and foam sharpness of inner liner. The hot tensile strength and elongations reflect well the thermo-formability.

The minimum liner wall thickness and material distribution are very important factors to the success of thermoforming because material stiffness, opacity and chemical resistance directly depend on the minimum liner wall thickness after thermoforming.

Recommended Thermoforming Conditions for ABS sheets :

Processing temperature : 140 ~ 150 °C

Bubble height : 65% of mold depth (female mold)

۸۵% of mold depth (male mold)

Plug depth : 85% of mold depth (female mold)

Mold temperature : 50 °C

APPLICATIONS:

  1. Refrigerator inner liners
  2. (ABS sheets which are used for the refrigerator liners are resistant to R141b, R11 and Cyclopentane blowing agents).
  3. Automobile interior parts
  4. Sanitary wares and bathtubs by applying a co-extruded PMMA layer
  5. Suitcases
